Pork Chop Shawarma with Grilled Tomatoes & Avocado Sauce

Shawarma Marinated Pork Chops

Ingredients for Balsamic Chargrilled Tomatoes:

  • 8 vine ripened tomatoes cut in half
  • 2 tablespoons virgin oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Mix oil and vinegar thoroughly.  Brush tomatoes with mixture.  Season tomatoes with salt and pepper, then chargrill until just cooked.  Set aside.

Ingredients for Avocado Yellow Mustard Sauce:

  • 2 avocado pealed, pitted then roughly chopped
  • 80 ml white wine
  • 100 ml olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 4 tablespoons chopped Italian parsley
  • 60 gm chopped vine ripened tomato
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • pinch of salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce


Combine all above ingredients, except parsley and tomato.  Place in blender and puree until smooth.
Fold in tomatoes and parsley, season to taste.  Season chops with salt and pepper, place on hot grill cook for 4 – 6 minutes on each side or till cooked to your liking.  Rest for a couple of minutes so the juices run.

To Serve:

Place roast tomatoes on a serving plate.  Place chops on plate and serve with avocado mustard sauce.


4 garlic cloves finely chopped
150 ml olive oil
3 tbsp of Sami's Kitchen Shawarma blend
60 ml red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon runny honey
2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce
4 pork loin chops – around 150 gm each

Place chops on a plate or in a container.
Place all other ingredients in blender and puree.
Pour marinade over chops.
Leave to marinate for 2 hours.
